A Long Tradition of Legal Counseling and Advocacy

Cramer & Anderson is a full-service law firm, which traces its origins to John H. Hubbard, a member of Congress during the Civil War. Hubbard, a Salisbury, Connecticut native, whom President Lincoln nicknamed "Old Connecticut," practiced law in Litchfield from 1854 until his death in 1872. His law practice was taken over by his son, John T. Hubbard, a lifetime resident of Litchfield. The younger Hubbard represented his hometown in the Connecticut General Assembly from 1901 to 1905 and served as probate judge for the Litchfield for many years.

The Birth of Cramer & Anderson

In 1928, David Cramer joined Judge Hubbard in the practice of law, and Hubbard & Cramer was created. In 1962 David Cramer and his partners merged with Henry B. Anderson's New Milford firm, then known as Anderson & Altermatt, and Cramer & Anderson was born. The firm has grown into one of the largest in northwestern Connecticut, with offices in Kent, Litchfield, New Milford, and Washington, as well as one office in Danbury in Fairfield County.
